Professionalism & unstinting help Wed, 29 Oct 2014 10:36:10 +0000 Philip

I should like to thank all of your staff for the professionalism with which you handled our purchase of property in Pinner.

Living at some distance from Pinner automatically makes the handling of details in such transactions much more difficult.

Your staff have been unstinting with their help, guidance and time, well beyond that considered normal, for which we are most grateful.

We have searched for property for the last nine months and this has been a most painful experience, the pain almost entirely down to the lack of basic professionalism by almost ALL the estate agents with whom we dealt.

It has therefore been even more of a pleasure dealing with yourselves.

We build houses so we KNOW Houses! Fri, 17 Oct 2014 12:26:58 +0000 Alexander Watson actually understands the building works you carry out and appreciates the cost and effort required in many finishes. We know because we actually build houses as well as sell them. We both build from the ground up as a completely new home or extensively re-design, re-model and renovate exiting properties.

We have over 25 years experience in construction. Not many estate agents can say that.

When we value your home we can factor in the real costs of works done or indeed works that need doing. We can advise on proposed works you may be considering. Will they add real value? What are the best extensions and finishes that boost your home’s value?

Here’s a few examples of works we have done – before and after. Do you think we added value?

Mansion Tax? Wed, 24 Sep 2014 07:51:41 +0000

Labour’s announcement that it will bring in an annual mansion tax on all homes worth £2m or more to raise money for the NHS has been labelled a “political stunt’. Critics have said that the tax will pull in property rich but income poor people who have lived in homes for many years. Their homes have risen in value, but say pundits, these owners would be utterly unable to pay the tax.

According to Zoopla 96% of the burden of Labour’s mansion tax would fall on home owners in London and the south east.

Zoopla reckons over 85,000 home owners in London would be caught by the tax, and over 14,000 in the south east. After that, the numbers drop away sharply with, for instance, just 168 home owners caught by the tax in Yorkshire and the Humber, and 87 property owners in Wales.

It estimates that the tax would cost an average of £15,000 a year.

Lawrence Hall, of Zoopla, said: “It is somewhat misleading to call it a mansion tax when many three bed family homes in London and the south east would find themselves caught by it.”

The Labour party estimate that the mansion tax will bring in £1.2bn a year to fund the NHS.

Not just happy vendors! Sun, 21 Sep 2014 10:24:31 +0000 Hi Phillip, Steve,

We would like to thank you for the great support provided from offer to completion for our property purchase. The property we were buying was in a chain and there were quite complex situations to deal with, however, Steve did not lose his patience and helped us with his reassuring words. Communication was excellent and honest. We felt quite jittery at times on whether the deal would actually go through or not but it was the commitment and hard work of the team of Alexander Watson that kept all the families involved in the chain positive and got the sale through!

All your support is much appreciated.

 Thanks & Regards,

Yes vote ‘could wipe thousands off Scottish house prices’ Tue, 16 Sep 2014 08:49:12 +0000

Zoopla has warned today that a Yes vote on Thursday could wipe thousands off the average house price in Scotland.

House prices in Scotland dropped 17.5% during the financial crisis and Zoopla warned that a repeat could wipe £31,000 off prices.

Over the last two years Scottish house prices have grown on average by 8.3% (£13,728) with the average Scottish home now standing at £177,599 – still 2.2% below their August 2008 peak.

Zoopla said that with a number of businesses intending to move south of the border in the event of a Yes vote, the supply of available properties could be increased, while demand would fall.

Further uncertainties following a Yes vote surrounding tax, currency and interest rates are also likely to impact negatively on house prices in Scotland, said the site.

Zoopla warned that mortgages could become harder to obtain, with a more limited choice of lenders, and higher interest rates could result. Home owners could be earning wages in a new currency but stuck with mortgages in sterling, which would leave them exposed to currency fluctuations.

Lawrence Hall of Zoopla said: “While the impact of the referendum on the Scottish and wider UK economy long-term is hard to predict and there are opposing views, a Yes vote would almost certainly have a detrimental effect on Scottish house prices in the short to medium term.”
